Hello everyone, my name is Janissha Williams. I have been an educator for 15 years. I have had some unique experiences in my teaching career. For seven years I taught an adolescent male self-contained classroom at a school attached to a psychiatric hospital. After that I transitioned for two years to work with adolescent girls. Outside of this, I worked in the public school setting in Middle School, teaching Math, Science and Language Arts. The one exception to this is the 2017-2018 year when I taught Kindergarten, which was the most challenging teaching experiences. My hat goes off to those who can stick in there with the youngest scholars.
My years teaching in a self-contained classroom, motivated me to look into ways I can use technology to reach students. In class I would have academic levels 6 - 12. In order to meet their individual needs I began creating individualized lessons for them, with various printed materials. I thought, there has to be an easier way and began researching this. Later I began creating lessons using a website creator. During my research I learned about Instructional Technology and decided to pursue a Masters in the subject. Since then I have enrolled in the Masters program at UWG for Instructional Technology. I have improved my skills in creating differentiated instruction using technology by integrating concepts that I have learned in my classes. They have also provided me with more pedagogical skills in the area of visual literacy and the benefits it provides students of all ages. |
